Find the Correct Ramp Size for Your Home

In order to find the appropriate ramp size you will need to determine the rise in inches. See diagram below.

• Measure the distance from the top step or landing straight down to the ground (RISE); for a van, measure from the cargo floor directly down to the ground; for a pickup, measure from the tailgate straight down to the ground. This measurement (RISE) will be in inches.
• If the chair or scooter is occupied, divide the rise by 2 which will give you the minimum length of the ramp in feet (6ft in the example above).
• If the chair or scooter is unoccupied, divide the rise by 3 which will give you the minimum length of the ramp in feet (4ft in the example above).
